Requirements

  • Trade Certification in one of the following: millwright, industrial mechanic or power engineer
  • Must perform overtime, weekend work and on-call/support as required
  • Shift work as required
  • Grade 12 education
  • 1 to 3 years related experience demonstrating mechanical aptitude
  • Experience in a Food Processing Plant (asset)
  • Experience with Live Animals and proper care and handling (asset)
  • Success-driven with a “can do” attitude
  • Able to work independently as well as a strong team player
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good safety record and work ethic
  • Flexible and adaptable in ever-changing environments
  • CMMS Experience
  • Maintains prompt and courteous response to production team requests within company guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Comply with company safety, federal, state and local regulations, plus environmental requirements
  • Perform all tasks as per recommended job methods, procedures, etc., particularly on the repair installation of production machines, bearings, seals and their alignment
  • Maintenance of RTU filters, belts and general maintenance
  • Carry out preventive maintenance tasks to Production & common areas
  • Diagnose complex and common faults of mechanical equipment by inspecting and using appropriate tools of preventive maintenance
  • Through familiarity, knowledge and uses of power and hand tools and equipment in a skillful, efficient manner, maintaining them in clean operating condition
  • Use hand and power tools to build buggies, carts, airlines, castors and rails
  • Replacement of solenoids, motors, pumps and gearboxes
  • Inspect equipment to ensure all safeguarding is in place and functional, including safety sensors, limit switches and photo-eyes
  • Electrical knowledge to replace lamps, ballasts and familiarity with thermostats and sensors
  • Plan and organize all aspects of work and job assignments, in an efficient and productive way
  • Maintain work areas in clean and safe conditions, removing all waste on completion of work, or earlier if necessary
  • Report all defects, errors in production, and machines which may affect the workplace to the Maintenance Supervisor/Operations Manager
  • Perform and assist in other maintenance duties as required
  • Work closely with contractors and oversee activities as required; provide resource support as required
  • Complete tasks at the request of the Maintenance Manager/Operations Manager
