Position Overview

Temple Shalom of Newton is seeking passionate and dedicated Part-Time Teachers for our K-7 Jewish Living and Learning Program. We are a dynamic Reform synagogue committed to providing exceptional supplementary Jewish education. Teachers will work closely with the Learning & Engagement team to adapt curriculum and lessons to suit individual student needs and interests. The ideal candidate has a strong connection to Judaism and a genuine interest in working with children, particularly those with diverse learning needs.

• Location Type: Onsite
• Job Type: Part-Time
• Salary: $61/hour (Teachers) / $50/hour (Inclusion Specialist)
• Time Commitment: Wednesdays 1:30 PM - 5:00 PM & Sundays 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM (or variations)
• Duration: Sept - May (25-26 School Year)

Requirements

• Connection to Judaism
• Experience working with children (K-7) preferred
• Flexibility to adapt curriculum and lesson plans
• Ability to create engaging and interactive learning experiences
• Interest in supporting students with special and diverse learning needs (especially for Inclusion Specialist role)

Responsibilities

• Deliver curriculum and lesson plans provided by Temple Shalom.
• Adapt lessons and activities to meet individual student needs and interests.
• Create a positive and supportive learning environment.
• Collaborate with the Learning & Engagement team.
• Support students in connecting with Jewish values, traditions, and history.
• (Inclusion Specialist) Provide support to students with inclusion needs in and out of the classroom.
