Candidates must possess Missouri SpEd Certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (Birth–Grade 12) and be bilingual in ASL and English. Prior experience with DHH students, preferably in virtual settings, is required, along with familiarity with assistive technology and teletherapy tools. Knowledge of special education laws, IEP processes, and best practices is essential, as are strong communication, organization, and tech troubleshooting skills, and a clear background check.
The virtual DHH Special Education Teacher will deliver personalized, evidence-based instruction to students (Birth–Grade 12) using strategies like UDL and RTI. Responsibilities include leveraging teletherapy tools, designing and implementing IEPs, attending meetings, tracking progress, preparing families and facilitators for remote sessions, adjusting instruction based on real-time data, partnering with school teams and families, and training paraprofessionals.
