Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of related utility industry work experience; or an associate's degree in electrical/Electronic/Civil/Mechanical Engineering Technology or related fields
Valid Driver's License
Technical knowledge acquired from an Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Civil/Mechanical Engineering Technology (Technician Assc)
Basic computer literacy, knowledge, and skills (Technician Assc)
Physical ability to walk rights-of-way of various terrain in adverse conditions, patrol distribution power lines, carry/handle telescopic measuring sticks and switching sticks (11 pounds), use brush axe (6 pounds) or machete (2 pounds) to clear brush (varies by location)
Responsibilities
Perform intermediate level technical work and related activities associated with planning, engineering, design, analysis, research, development, testing, construction, maintenance, and operation of Company equipment and facilities
Possess and apply technical knowledge of standards, codes, regulations, equipment, materials, systems, and business processes; assist in handling routine problems (Technician Assc)
Perform work activities as assigned and coached by higher level employees; work with others to supply information and seek assistance (Technician Assc)
Plan work in accordance with AEP standard planning practices; prioritize routine work; maintain accurate records (Technician Assc)
