High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of related utility industry work experience; or an Associate's Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Civil/Mechanical Engineering Technology or related fields
Valid Driver's License
Must live or be willing to relocate at own expense to a 45-minute report time to the Kingsport SC, 420 Riverport Road, Kingsport, TN, 37660
Physical ability to walk rights-of-way of various terrain in adverse conditions to patrol distribution power lines, carry/handle telescopic measuring sticks and switching sticks (11 pounds), and use brush axe (6 pounds) or machete (2 pounds) to clear brush
Technical knowledge acquired from an Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Civil/Mechanical Engineering Technology (preferred)
Basic computer literacy, knowledge, and skills
Responsibilities
Perform entry-level technical work and related activities associated with planning, engineering, design, analysis, research, development, testing, construction, maintenance, and operation of Company equipment and facilities
Gain knowledge of standards, codes, regulations, pertinent equipment, materials, systems, and business processes relevant to area of assignment
Assist employees in handling defined portions of routine problems
Perform work activities as assigned and coached by higher-level employees
Demonstrate ability to work with others in supplying information and seeking assistance
Plan work in accordance with AEP standard planning practices, prioritize routine work, and maintain accurate records
Apply technical knowledge and experience to resolve problems encountered in assigned work, use initiative to improve processes and increase job knowledge/technical skills, and compile/analyze/interpret information
Communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal/external customers, assist in preparing technical reports and papers, and demonstrate team player abilities
