About the Role
SpecterOps is searching for an experienced Technical Writer to join their BloodHound team and take ownership of our product documentation strategy. This role combines clear, high-quality technical writing with content architecture, navigation design, and a deep understanding of user personas.
You will collaborate closely with product managers, developers, designers, and customer-facing teams to create documentation that is easy to find, use, and is precisely tailored to the needs of different audiences—including developers, system administrators, business users, and technical support teams.
Salary Range: $80,000 – 100,000 base salary annually, commensurate with experience.
Location: This position is remote, must be willing to work U.S. time zones, with optional quarterly travel for in-person company events and other ad hoc meetings.
Candidate must be authorized to work and reside in the United States; we do not currently sponsor immigration visas.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain clear, user-focused documentation such as product guides, developer docs, API references, onboarding flows, FAQs, and release notes.
- Design and implement scalable information architecture, ensuring logical organization, intuitive navigation, and discoverability across documentation platforms.
- Understand and document for multiple user personas, tailoring content for specific roles (e.g., developers vs. non-technical admins) and use cases.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather technical details, identify documentation needs, and ensure content accuracy.
- Define and enforce content standards, voice, and style guidelines to maintain consistency across the knowledge base.
- Analyze usage patterns and feedback to improve content relevance, accessibility, and structure.
- Work with internal teams to continuously evolve our documentation tools and infrastructure, integrating new technologies where needed.
- Contribute to the overall content strategy, including content planning, versioning, and localization where applicable.
Requirements
- 4+ years of technical writing experience, ideally in a security product environment.
- Proven ability to write user-centric documentation for different audiences and personas (e.g., technical, semi-technical, business users).
- Strong grasp of content architecture, UX writing principles, and documentation design best practices.
- Experience with tools such as Markdown, Git, Mintlify, Swagger/OpenAPI, and Confluence.
- Familiarity with content management systems, version control, and agile product development workflows.
- Understanding and ability to explain complex technical concepts simply and clearly.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and project management skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience designing or managing a public-facing documentation portal or developer site.
- Experience working in or writing documentation for information security products or topics.
- Familiarity with using LLMs to enable improved velocity and accuracy of documentation.
- Experience working with open-source projects.
- Familiarity with product analytics and user research to guide documentation improvements.
- Exposure to UX, content strategy, or customer success workflows.
