Requirements

Candidates must be U.S. citizens due to access to export-controlled information, hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical Communication, or a related field, and possess at least 3 years of technical writing experience in the aerospace or defense industry. Proven experience with AWS D17.1/D1.1 welding codes, ASTM International material and testing standards, AMS specifications for aerospace materials, and ASME Y14.5-2009 for GD&T documentation is required, along with a strong understanding of aerospace design processes and key industry standards.

Responsibilities

The Technical Writer will develop and maintain technical documentation, including design process manuals, manufacturing procedures, engineering specifications, and technical reports. They will interpret and apply standards such as AWS, ASTM, AMS, and ASME Y14.5-2009, collaborate with subject matter experts to gather technical data, and ensure documentation complies with aerospace industry standards and internal quality protocols. Responsibilities also include creating visual aids, diagrams, and schematics, and maintaining version control and document management systems.
