Requirements

  • 3+ years writing user- and developer-facing documentation, with a strong portfolio (API references, user guides, integration guides, quickstarts, SDKs, webhooks)
  • API fundamentals: REST, JSON, OpenAPI/Swagger, auth (OAuth2/JWT), webhooks, pagination, rate limits, and error models
  • Code literacy: Able to read .NET and Java (controllers, models, attributes/annotations) and translate changes into docs
  • Docs-as-code: Git/Azure DevOps workflows (branching, PR reviews), Markdown, versioning, and deprecation practices
  • Tooling: Swagger UI/Editor or Redocly/Stoplight, Postman/collections, and a modern docs platform (e.g., GitBook)
  • IA & editorial: Information architecture, templates, terminology, and Microsoft Style Guide proficiency
  • Quality & accuracy: Create runnable samples, validate end-to-end flows in sandbox, and keep wikis/KBs in sync
  • Collaboration: Work effectively with Product, Engineering, and Solution Engineering; clear written and verbal communication across teams in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the USA, and India
  • Legally authorised to work in the location

Responsibilities

  • Own user- and developer-facing content end to end: plan, write, edit, and maintain guides, quickstarts, SDKs, Webhooks, API references, Changelogs, and other docs
  • Information architecture: shape the Developer Center (information architecture, navigation, landing pages) so that content is easy to find and maintain
  • Style & quality: apply the Microsoft Style Guide and internal standards; enforce templates, terminology, and editorial quality across contributions
  • Samples & accuracy: partner with engineers to create runnable examples, Postman collections, and sandbox steps; validate flows end-to-end
  • Tooling & publishing: publish via our documentation platform; keep wikis and knowledge bases aligned
  • Feedback & analytics: instrument docs, gather user feedback, triage issues, and iterate to reduce time to first successful call
  • Cross-functional collaboration: participate in backlog refinement and reviews, track documentation tasks, and align with product roadmaps
