Candidates must possess a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or equivalent experience. A strong track record of building high-quality dev productivity tools and a focus on operational excellence is required, along with broad exposure to the end-to-end product engineering stack. Experience with SOA or microservice-based architectures, large scale distributed systems, and common cloud platforms like AWS/GCP is necessary. Familiarity with Python, Go, Node, React, PostgreSQL, and data warehouse technologies like BigQuery or Amazon Redshift is also needed. A passion for self-driving technology is a plus. Experience in robotics, ROS, or the AV/ADAS industry, scientific analysis, building and managing engineering teams, writing modern production C++ applications, developing high-quality software under significant latency and performance constraints, and developing or working with safety-critical code will provide a competitive edge.
The Technical Lead will act as a technical architect, defining the technical vision and strategy for the Validation, Tools, and Acceleration (VTA) team, ensuring alignment with broader company objectives. They will design and implement systems to support AV/ADAS development, including building and optimizing infrastructure and technology for testing and evaluation workflows and data processing pipelines. Responsibilities include driving software engineering best practices within the team, developing company-wide tools to promote these standards, and improving and delivering reliable software through continuous integration, automated testing, and code reviews. The role involves defining, building, and embodying GM engineering culture and principles.
