Senior Software Engineer, Motion Planning - Full Stack
Standard Bots- Full Time
- Mid-level (3 to 4 years), Senior (5 to 8 years)
Candidates should possess over two years of experience in the management of a development team, demonstrating the ability to foster career growth, mentor team members effectively, and enhance productivity. A Master’s or PhD degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required. Strong proficiency in search algorithms is necessary, along with experience in developing motion planning solutions with ML. Expertise in C++ software development, Linux, and Python, supplemented by knowledge of SQL, is also required. A solid theoretical understanding and practical experience in motion planning under conditions of uncertainty, as well as in interactions with dynamic agents and environments, is essential. Knowledge of robotics algorithms in localization, perception, prediction, motion planning, and control systems for autonomous vehicles is needed.
As the Tech Lead Manager, you will lead and develop a team within the motion planning organization, assuming responsibility for planning algorithm and constraint generation. You will collaborate with other leaders to provide technical direction, making critical decisions on architectural strategies, strategic resource allocation, operational execution, and technical debt management. You will deliver a robust and scalable planner, prioritizing safety throughout the design, prototyping, testing, deployment, and production phases. You will adopt a metrics-driven approach to the development and enhancement of technical components, advance existing planning methodologies to facilitate data-driven strategies, promote diversity and inclusion in both products and personnel, mentor and offer constructive feedback (technical and professional) to team members, cultivating an inclusive and collaborative work environment, demonstrate initiative in generating innovative ideas, formulating a team vision, and considering the holistic robotaxi system, implement and review algorithms and code, applying rigorous engineering methodologies, and partner with project managers to develop roadmaps and execute plans according to schedule.
Develops fully driverless robotaxis for urban transport
Motional develops fully driverless vehicles, specifically robotaxis, aimed at transforming urban transportation. Their all-electric robotaxis are designed to navigate complex city environments safely and efficiently. Motional partners with ride-hailing and delivery services, providing them with advanced autonomous vehicle technology to enhance their operations and reduce costs. A unique aspect of Motional's service is its Command Center, which allows for real-time tracking of each robotaxi, enabling human agents to monitor performance and ensure passenger safety. Unlike many competitors, Motional focuses on integrating its vehicles into existing mobility networks, making driverless technology accessible and reliable. The company's goal is to make autonomous vehicles a safe and integral part of urban transportation.
