Requirements

  • Expertise in CAD for manufacturing engineering, including creation, modification, and management of 3D models, drawings, and BOMs for special machines and tools in battery production
  • Strong leadership skills to lead and develop an internal CAD team and external design offices
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering, including innovation processes for new product designs and plant development
  • Proficiency in Product Data Management (PDM) systems for content management, data integrity, and accessibility
  • Knowledge of defining and maintaining CAD usage standards and ME-PDM systems across operations
  • Ability to build and maintain standardized catalogs of standard and purchased parts with stakeholders
  • Technical skills in calculations for correct design and dimensioning of components
  • Expertise in material selection, tolerances, manufacturing technologies, and surface treatments based on functional and process requirements
  • Experience in risk assessments, safety standards, and legal compliance in plant design
  • Collaborative skills with ME teams for process/control technology interfaces and design impact evaluation

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the internal CAD team and external design offices to ensure quality and effective design processes
  • Provide innovative design solutions and technical expertise to support Manufacturing Engineering (ME)
  • Create and modify 3D models and CAD drawings for new and existing manufacturing plants and tools
  • Create and maintain BOMs based on CAD drawings
  • Manage content and structure of the PDM system to ensure data integrity and accessibility
  • Define and maintain standard guidelines for CAD usage and ME-PDM system, extending to EMEA operations
  • Build and maintain a standardized catalog of standard and purchased parts with stakeholders like the internal mechanical workshop
  • Support internal and external mechanical workshops during manufacturing and assembly phases
  • Participate in risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations in plant design
  • Perform technical calculations to ensure correct design and dimensioning of special and standard components
  • Select suitable materials, tolerances, manufacturing technologies, and surface treatments
  • Collaborate with ME teams for process and control technology to define interfaces and evaluate design impacts
  • Review and validate designs for compliance with specifications and scope of work
