Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related discipline
  • Coursework or some experience in tax, accounting, or related fields; understanding of accounting for income tax (provision) is a plus but not required
  • Familiarity with indirect taxes (sales/use, VAT/GST) or interest in learning these
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; able to manage deadlines, multiple tasks, and shifting priorities
  • Analytical mindset; comfortable working with data; good with spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets); experience with ERP systems or NetSuite is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact well with multiple teams
  • Self-starter attitude, eagerness to learn, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Based in San Francisco, CA with the expectation to go into the office three days per week

Responsibilities

  • Indirect tax: assist with data gathering, preparing filings, reconciling indirect tax liabilities, and working with outsourced compliance as needed
  • Income tax: help prepare tax estimates, support preparation of corporate tax returns under supervision, and contribute to income tax provision modelling
  • Global tax calendar maintenance: track deadlines for direct and indirect taxes, ensure required filings and deliverables are ready, monitor due dates
  • Tax technical research: e.g., researching rules around US & foreign income tax nexus, VAT/GST, sales & use tax, and other areas to support compliance or strategy
  • Documentation & policy: help with SOX documentation, maintaining schedules, assembling materials that support tax accounting policies and operative procedures
  • Automation & technology: assist with automation or process improvement in tax accounting & compliance tasks; help enhance standard operating procedures
  • Cross-functional collaboration: work with stakeholders in accounting, finance, legal or operations to understand the business inputs to tax calculations
