System Administrator - CMMC Focus

Position Overview

Maxar is seeking an experienced System Administrator to join an agile and fast-paced software development team. This role is critical in supporting our USG customer’s national security mission by implementing and maintaining CMMC security controls and procedures. Mandatory: Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI.

Responsibilities

• Maintain on-premise and AWS cloud server hardware, virtual hosts, and network equipment within a laboratory environment, including VMs, DevOps applications, and container orchestration.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network and application configuration issues.
• Implement and maintain CMMC security controls, update asset lists, and manage configuration tracking.
• Contribute to internal Change Review Board meetings.
• Collaborate with Software, DevOps, and Test engineers to develop and implement iterative operational improvements.
• Test and implement new system security configurations and architecture-based controls.
• Provide subject matter expert reach-back support for production systems at customer sites.
• Communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, articulating technical concepts and ideas clearly.
• Set up, take down, troubleshoot, and maintain tactical antenna hardware.

Requirements

• Experience: 5-10 years of technical experience maintaining information system hardware and applications in an environment with strict security compliance standards (e.g., CMMC, NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53, PCI, HIPAA).
• Cloud & Virtualization: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, VMware, and Hyper-V.
• Directory Services: Experience with Active Directory domain controllers in a mixed Windows and Linux/Unix environment.
• Operating Systems: Experience with Linux administration (specifically RedHat, Ubuntu).
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Work Schedule: Willingness to work onsite 60% or more as needs dictate.
• Education/Certification:
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Computer Science/Information Technology, Mathematics, or Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • OR Active CompTIA Security+ or equivalent or higher certification.

Additional Skills Desired

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Familiarity with satellite ground station information systems used by the intelligence community, geospatial context, and/or big data analytics.
• Familiarity with common industry software tools and IT/software development concepts and best practices (e.g., GitLab, Jira).
• Ansible experience.
• Familiarity with hybrid AWS cloud/on-premise architecture.
• Experience with PostgreSQL database administration.
• Experience with software development or build pipeline administration.
• Strong Python and/or BASH scripting skills.
• CompTIA Security+, CASP+, GSEC, or comparable certification.
• Linux administrator or engineer certification.
• Familiarity with the CMMC compliance framework.
