Candidates must have deep knowledge of Cataract procedures, equipment, consumables, and IOL offerings. Sales experience in medical devices or pharmaceuticals within a surgical environment is required. Understanding of Cataract Consumables, Equipment, Diagnostics, and Visualization is a plus. The role requires the ability to upgrade procedures with additional cataract consumables and Phaco accessories, a general understanding of surgical techniques, anatomy, physiology, pathology, and optics, and the ability to provide holistic solutions considering customer needs and budgets. Proficiency in utilizing budget impact models, demonstrating value concepts, strong collaboration and coordination skills, excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, strong problem-solving skills, business acumen, a customer-oriented mindset, territorial management abilities, flexibility, motivation, self-confidence, and a goal-oriented mindset are essential. Experience with CRM applications like Salesforce is also required.
The Surgical Account Manager will represent Alcon in Surgical Accounts, driving sales growth through strong customer relationships and acting as the main point of contact for smooth coordination and business, covering all cataract consumables including Custom Paks. Responsibilities include overseeing account management, working with other Alcon sales roles to maximize penetration in major accounts, creating equipment leads, managing service contracts and tenders, and driving total Alcon sales performance in the territory. This involves ownership of sales and market share for Consumables and Cataract IOLs, developing and executing account plans, deriving insights from the customer environment for commercial execution, and providing end-to-end customer support for Cataract customers. The role also entails mapping decision-making processes, building relationships with key stakeholders, aligning with customers using a consultative sales approach, initiating demand generation, negotiating quotes and contracts, liaising with expert roles for technical/clinical knowledge, driving local events, reporting on competitor activities, and converting business from competitors using value-based selling.
