Candidates should have 2-4 years of experience in technical and customer-facing roles, with an intermediate understanding of JavaScript and web development. Experience supporting SQL or NoSQL databases, strong communication skills, and the ability to think critically and empathetically are required. A proven track record of diagnosing and resolving complex issues in production web environments, along with a solid understanding of RESTful APIs, latency bottlenecks, and error handling, is also necessary. Familiarity with infrastructure-related incidents affecting SaaS uptime is beneficial.
The Support Engineer will communicate with developers to resolve technical issues, answer complex Retool development questions, and troubleshoot connections to databases or APIs. Responsibilities include brainstorming app structure and best practices, researching new topics to advise customers, debugging database connections, writing JavaScript examples, and troubleshooting data structures, SQL queries, and API authentication. The role also involves training new coworkers and diagnosing infrastructure-related incidents.
