Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Software Engineering, or related field, and multiple years (approx. 20 years) of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in research and development of leading-edge technology in the automotive industry, preferably in the infotainment or ADAS domain
  • Excellent understanding of hardware and software development and capable of driving system design in a fast-paced environment
  • Multiple years of experience in offering direction and influence to engineering management on different organizational levels
  • Very good understanding of industrialization processes and related factory collaborations
  • Strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Unique blend of technical, business, and project skills that enables vision and ownership of a given technology or system
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the development of ADAS and automated driving systems

Responsibilities

  • Manage product research and development initiatives, anticipate technological trends to drive innovation and roadmaps
  • Investigate emerging technologies and develop new designs or techniques which could be regarded as significant advances in the technical community
  • Provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams in the different stages of multiple customer programs, drive system architecture and technical concepts based on internal and external requirements
  • Offer direction and influence to engineering management for long-range product development objectives, determine options and facilitate decision-making on technical challenges
  • Uncover and resolve problems associated with the development and implementation of existing products and programs
  • Effectively represent Garmin in external meetings with customers and suppliers
  • Support engineering management and take an active role in building up the system architecture team, mentor, and train other systems engineers
