Requirements

  • Deep expertise in building scalable, resilient, and customer-centric eCommerce platforms
  • Proven track record of leading complex engineering initiatives, including design and implementation of scalable full stack (front and backend) systems, APIs, and databases
  • Experience applying best practices in software development processes, design, and creating/improving technical/design documentation
  • Ability to guide development teams to ensure high availability, performance, scalability, and security
  • Experience leveraging COTS products, homegrown systems, and services with seamless integration to GM systems and external solutions
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional engineering efforts to optimize product discovery, checkout flows, and order management systems
  • Experience with continuous improvement in performance, reliability, developer experience, and high-traffic environments
  • Competency across complete Commerce backend technology stack to design and evolve core backend systems, scale product catalog, search, cart, checkout, and order fulfillment capabilities

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end implementation and ongoing operation of eCommerce solutions (front and backend systems), ensuring scalability for peak traffic, low latency, and high availability
  • Define and evolve system architecture across multiple scrum teams
  • Partner with engineering leadership to align technical direction with Digital Commerce domain strategy
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and strategic direction to a team of software engineers (Managers, Senior, and Mid-Level)
  • Support the engineering team through the entire lifecycle of implementations, operations, and maintenance of existing and future systems/platforms
  • Partner closely with other Software Engineer Managers from Physical eCommerce and external engineering teams supporting end-to-end solutions
  • Design and support the deployment of future platforms
