Requirements

Candidates must have 7+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering or a similar role, with a proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale data systems. Proficiency in Python and strong proficiency in SQL are required, along with extensive experience with at least one major cloud provider's data ecosystem (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT principles, and modern data lake architectures is necessary, as well as a proven ability to design and build scalable and resilient data systems from scratch. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills are essential.

Responsibilities

The Staff Data Engineer will design and build highly scalable, reliable, and fault-tolerant data pipelines and platforms, driving the architectural direction for data ingestion, transformation, and storage. They will be a hands-on expert in developing and optimizing core data pipelines using technologies like Python, SQL, Apache Spark, and cloud-native services. This role involves mentoring and coaching other data engineers, fostering best practices, and collaborating with data scientists, analysts, and product managers to translate business requirements into data solutions. Responsibilities also include ensuring the operational health of data systems through monitoring, alerting, and logging, staying up-to-date with new data engineering trends, and establishing data quality standards and governance practices.
