Requirements

  • Controls Systems experience with 10+ years in the amusement park industry or industrial/manufacturing environment
  • High-level technical knowledge and awareness of details to recognize developing technical problems and initiate corrective actions
  • Passionate about technology, service provider work environments, machine learning, and safety
  • Ability to work with little oversight from leadership, manage tasks independently, mentor early career staff, and provide technical knowledge/guidance to peers
  • Proficient in troubleshooting PLC software and hardware on complex ride systems
  • Understand ride system interfaces and how they relate to overall attraction operation
  • Ability to work during off-hours/3rd shift hours as needed to support projects/attractions
  • Knowledge of standards and codes: IEEE, NFPA, ASTM, DOSH, NEC/CEC, etc

Responsibilities

  • Respond to attraction downtimes supporting Engineering Services and Operations urgent needs
  • Develop scope for attraction reliability improvement efforts – design, install, testing, documentation, and closeout
  • Select systems and equipment that satisfy design requirements and applicable codes and standards
  • Monitor downtime trends for targeted areas of improvement for reliability efforts
  • Monitor control system performance to ensure systems operate within established performance criteria
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and communicate at the system level and dive into details when needed
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate technical and management aspects of Sustaining Engineering tasks
  • Influence change processes (Ride Control) by providing feedback and helping peers and partners understand the process
  • Partner with other Engineering teams on design efforts
  • Interact with maintenance teams and operations partners – gathering intel during downtime response and working on reliability improvement efforts
  • Perform ride system hazard analyses, including fault tree analysis and FMEA
  • Ensure compliance with standards and codes
  • Adhere to Department change process documents and procedures
  • Stay apprised of latest developments in ride control system technology, equipment, and materials for cost-effective, energy-efficient, and reliable designs
  • Provide field engineering support to Disneyland Resort and supporting departments, including planning, organizing, and leading teams in troubleshooting, problem resolution, system enhancements, reliability improvements, and documentation
  • Respond to mechanical and control emergencies from attraction downtimes
  • Hands-on designing, developing, editing, and troubleshooting PLC software code, as well as hardware troubleshooting of PLC hardware/modules
  • Provide technical direction, deliver troubleshooting resolution, analyze control system/software hazards, and lead technical projects
