Staff Accountant

Position Overview

Bloomerang is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our mission-driven team. This role offers a hands-on approach to financial reporting, providing an engaging and impactful experience beyond traditional accounting tasks. You will be instrumental in supporting the financial health of our organization, which empowers tens of thousands of nonprofits to raise more funds and achieve their goals.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries, schedules, and analysis in accordance with GAAP for month-end close.
  • Assist external tax accountants by gathering documentation and support for Federal and State tax returns.
  • Work with external auditors by providing supporting documentation and deliverables for annual audits.
  • File state sales tax returns and 1099s as needed.
  • Research and stay current on tax laws.
  • Process accounts payable.
  • Coordinate with the Billing department on collections issues.
  • Coordinate with the Payroll department to review and book payroll.
  • Integrate potential acquisitions into current systems and processes.
  • Assist in establishing and documenting policies and procedures for the finance department.
  • Analyze financial information for accuracy and explain significant fluctuations and trending.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 2-4 years of Accounting experience in a corporate setting.
  • Sound understanding of GAAP principles.
  • Ability to think critically and take on new tasks with a high level of difficulty.
  • Ability to follow directions, work with minimal supervision, and interact with all departments and levels of management.
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Google Suite.
  • Applied experience in creating Pivot Tables.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong math, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NetSuite knowledge.
  • CPA License or CPA Candidacy.
  • SaaS or Technology Industry experience.
  • System integration experience.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary Range: $55,500 - $83,500 annually.
  • Bonus: May be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
