Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline preferred
  • 5+ years of experience testing complex embedded products
  • Strong manual testing skills with attention to detail
  • 2+ years of experience using Python and C/C++ for automation and validation
  • Experience with hardware/software validation infrastructures (HIL/SIL)
  • Familiarity with Linux environments, Docker, CI/CD tools (GitLab, Jenkins), and Git version control
  • Skilled in designing custom hardware or software fixtures for embedded system testing
  • Proficient with wired (Ethernet, CAN, UART) and wireless (BLE, Wi-Fi, LTE) communication technologies
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers
  • Ability to manage multiple efforts and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Growth mindset with interest in advancing responsibilities within Fort
  • Preferred
  • Hands-on hardware design experience (custom breakout boards, adapters, test fixtures)
  • Knowledge of RF testing or safety-critical system validation

Responsibilities

  • Develop test methods and procedures to transition products from design into volume manufacturing
  • Design and execute manual and automated tests for embedded hardware and firmware validation
  • Perform regression, performance, stress, and reliability testing on Fort devices
  • Establish and maintain test plans, procedures, and documentation to ensure repeatable and auditable testing
  • Build, maintain, and upgrade Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) benches for system and device-level validation
  • Manage and improve lab infrastructure, including test equipment, fixtures, and assets
  • Design and build custom breakout boards, adapters, and fixtures to support testing needs
  • Collaborate with hardware and firmware engineering teams to debug and resolve issues
  • Contribute to design reviews by defining testability requirements early in development
  • Support product engineering in maintaining and improving R&D test environments
  • Work with manufacturing partners to create and document production test processes (hardware and software)
  • Provide technical expertise to support production and program management, including special customer deliveries
  • Contribute to re-engineering efforts to improve quality and manufacturability
  • Deliver clear, data-driven test reports to stakeholders and mentor junior engineers
  • Work directly with customers at customer sites to drive success through hands-on support (10–20% travel)
