As a Sr Staff Engineer at Cribl, you will:

• Help set the technical direction for Stream.
• Work closely with product stakeholders to identify, design, develop, and deliver customer-delighting products.
• Provide technical and thought leadership to the team, continually improving technologies, tools, and processes.
• Contribute hands-on to Cribl Stream, designing and developing features for the data platform.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain robust code for scalable and high-performing distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction for products, projects, and features, focusing on back-end systems and APIs responsible for data ingestion, processing, and routing.
• Host architecture discussions and design reviews with the team.
• Partner with a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, and product managers to translate feature specifications into product designs and code.
• Design and develop features for the Cribl Stream data platform.
• Develop expert-level knowledge of software development using Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, Docker, and Git.
• Ensure product features are working as expected through robust test plans and automated tests.
• Coach and mentor junior developers.
• Evangelize innovation and engage users by contributing to internal and external blogs.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in CS/EE (MS Preferred)
• Experience: 12+ years of software development experience
• Skills:
  • Problem-solving with holistic approaches.
  • Experience working directly with clients to solve problems and gather feedback.
  • Experience with data-intensive applications and/or data stream processing.
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and pragmatic.
  • Ability to lead projects with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in advanced development, especially in distributed systems and large, complex system environments deployed at scale.
  • Working knowledge of Linux systems.
  • Working knowledge of Docker and k8s.
  • Experience with REST APIs.
  • Experience with Agile processes and rapid iterative development.
  • Experience with cloud-based platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong sense of ownership with a focus on high-quality deliverables.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), suitable for remote/distributed environments.
