Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, with a Master’s degree preferred, and a minimum of 12 years of software development experience. They must demonstrate the ability to problem-solve with holistic approaches and maintain focus on overarching objectives, along with experience working directly with clients to solve problems and gather feedback on innovations. Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems is required, as well as experience in advanced development, particularly in distributed systems and large, complex system environments deployed at scale. Working knowledge of Linux systems, Docker, and k8s is also necessary, along with experience using services from cloud-based platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
As a Sr Staff Engineer, the individual will provide technical direction for products, projects, and features, particularly focusing on back-end systems and APIs responsible for ingesting, processing, and routing data. They will host architecture discussions and design reviews, partner with cross-functional teams to translate feature specifications into product designs and implementable code, and contribute hands-on to the Cribl Stream by designing and developing features for the data platform. This role also involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining robust code, creating test plans and automated tests, coaching and mentoring junior developers, and evangelizing innovation through internal and external blogs. Furthermore, they will ensure product features are working as expected and demonstrate a strong sense of ownership with a focus on high-quality and high-performing deliverables.
