Candidates should possess 6+ years of experience as a software engineer, including developing SaaS platforms and applications at scale, with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent completion of an engineering-related bootcamp. They should have strong experience designing and scaling backend services, a solid understanding of API design, system architecture, and database management, and proficiency with backend languages and frameworks such as Python, Go, Rust, Django, Node.js, Java, and Spring. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure like AWS, GCP, Azure, and Kubernetes, along with Terraform, is also required.
The Senior Software Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure backend services that power the dbt Labs platform, tackling ambiguous problems with strategic thinking and balancing technical constraints with user needs. They will build services, APIs, and experiences that support user delight, quality, high availability, and performance, championing a culture of technical excellence and innovation. Furthermore, they will collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, Product Design, and Infrastructure teams, contribute to engineering best practices, mentor junior engineers, debug production issues, optimize system performance using observability tools, and participate in design and code reviews.
