Job Description: Small Commercial National Technical Underwriting Support

Position Overview

Nationwide's Property and Casualty team is seeking passionate individuals to help people protect what matters most and innovate processes to provide exceptional customer value. This role is within the Small Commercial National Technical Underwriting unit and offers flexibility in work location. Responsibilities

  • Partner with Technical Consultants and Directors on project execution, providing coordination, documentation, and administrative support.
  • Collaborate with the Automation Team to ensure project alignment and cohesion between technical and automation functions.
  • Leverage data analytics tools to support various projects and initiatives.
  • Assist with the ongoing management of Knowledge Advanced, including content updates and supporting the transition to the P&C Knowledge Center (PCKC).
  • Support the maintenance of Handling Procedure documentation in collaboration with the Automation team.
  • Contribute to underwriter development by sharing insights, surfacing best practices, and supporting upskilling efforts.
  • Support external-facing appetite initiatives, including updates and maintenance of platforms like Ask Kodiak and the Commercial Appetite Directory (CAD).
  • Promote consistency and efficiency through integration across digital workflows.

Requirements

  • Technical Commercial Underwriting Expertise: Deep knowledge of commercial underwriting principles and practices.
  • PolicyCenter: Well-versed in PolicyCenter.
  • Regulatory/Guidelines: Experience with regulatory requirements in Commercial Underwriting and creation of Underwriting guidelines.
  • Project Management: Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage tasks effectively.
  • Innovation/Problem Solver: Applies creative thinking and embraces emerging technologies for process improvement.
  • Strategic Foresight: Anticipates industry trends and evolving customer needs.
  • Communication: Clearly articulates information and adapts messaging to diverse audiences.
  • Professionalism: Demonstrates integrity, accountability, and a high standard of conduct.
  • Data Proficiency: Experience with tools such as Power BI and PowerApps for data analysis and workflow automation.
  • Resiliency & Agility: Ability to thrive in ambiguity, adapt to shifting priorities, and remain effective under pressure.
