Requirements

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, with a minimum of 8 years of experience in Software Engineering, Distributed Systems, or a related field. They should have at least 3 years of proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Scala, or Python, and 3 years of experience in data engineering or related fields. A solid understanding of cloud-based infrastructure and managed services (AWS, GCP) is required, along with experience with data engineering technologies like Apache Spark, Apache Iceberg, Apache Avro, Apache Kafka, and Apache Flink.

Responsibilities

The Sr Software Development Engineer will contribute to the ingestion, discoverability, governance, derivation, and serving of data for Workday’s Classic Machine Learning and agentic initiatives. They will work hands-on with technologies like Python, Spark, AWS Infra, Kafka, Terraform/Kubernetes, and Iceberg, delivering a service from code to production through continuous integration and deployment practices. The role involves creating scalable service endpoints to retrieve data, and collaborating with teammates to craft, maintain, and improve sophisticated object-oriented software while adhering to clean code standards and employing testing methodologies.
