Position Overview

Thermo Fisher Scientific, a world leader in serving science, is seeking an Applications Scientist specializing in XRF and Spark OES instruments. This role is within our Chemical Analysis Division (CAD), which provides analytical instruments and services to diverse markets including Safety & Security, Environmental, Food Safety, Energy, Mining, Life Science, and Recycling. Our instruments are valued for their adaptability, reliability, and ease of use in various customer environments.


Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding and strong application knowledge of XRF and Spark OES instruments.
  • Analyze customer samples for instrument evaluation and create compelling technical reports to support sales efforts.
  • Support trade shows, seminars, and technical symposia through poster presentations and oral presentations.
  • Provide remote or on-site applications support to new and existing customers.
  • Deliver post-sales customer training, including hands-on laboratory sessions and lectures.
  • Offer consultation to customers regarding sample analysis recommendations.
  • Contribute to marketing collateral by authoring technical notes, application notes, white papers, and peer-reviewed journal articles.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Recent graduates in relevant fields will be considered.

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of relevant industrial experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven hands-on experience in XRF and/or Spark OES operation, including sample preparation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a logical thought process and attention to detail.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, influence, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective time and project management abilities with minimal direct supervision.
  • Customer-centric approach, motivated by providing an exceptional customer experience.
  • Willingness to challenge and collaborate with multiple departments.
  • Willingness to travel in the US/Canada up to 60%.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Estimated Salary Range (Texas): $75,700.00 – $113,500.00
