Requirements

10+ years of progressive experience in software development engineering, architecting, and delivering highly scalable, robust, and efficient distributed software systems
Deep expertise in developing high-performance applications using Java and/or Scala
Significant, hands-on experience leveraging Public Cloud platforms (specifically AWS and/or GCP) for deployment, scaling, and operational excellence
Proven capacity for end-to-end ownership of complex software components—from initial design and development through to successful delivery and deployment
Effective cross-functional team collaboration
Exceptional problem-solving skills with ability to diagnose, mitigate, and resolve critical production incidents during on-call rotation
Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written)
Proven track record of leading team collaboration, driving technical consensus, and mentoring junior and mid-level engineers
Experience designing scalable, customer-centric systems
Interest in practical cryptography
Demonstrated ability to work in a production-focused organization in a rapidly moving environment with resilience and scalability as key requirements
Ability to coordinate effectively within team and with others in local and other timezones

Responsibilities

Develop, build, deploy, and support platform security specific solutions and infrastructure to protect Workday customers' data
Build the most secure services on premises and in Hybrid Cloud environments
Solve challenges of growing and operating a globally distributed cryptographic security service alongside senior leaders, principal engineers, and security specialists
