Requirements

  • 7+ years of direct experience in privacy law, with a strong preference for in-house experience at a tech company
  • Experience advising on AI governance, risk management, and the evolving AI regulatory landscape
  • J.D. and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
  • A highly collaborative spirit with the ability to operate autonomously and build strong cross-functional relationships
  • A pragmatic, business-oriented approach to problem solving and risk management
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to distill complex legal concepts for non-lawyers
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP, AIGP) are highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Monitor global privacy and AI laws, translating complex requirements into practical guidance for business and product teams
  • Participate in the AI Governance Committee to help shape and implement BigID’s framework for responsible and ethical AI use
  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to embed Privacy by Design principles throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Conduct DPIAs and AI risk assessments on products, systems, and vendors to proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks
  • Maintain up-to-date RoPAs to proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks
  • Support the commercial legal team by drafting and negotiating DPAs and complex privacy and AI terms in customer and vendor contracts
  • Draft external and internal-facing privacy and AI documentation, and develop training materials to promote a strong company culture of privacy and responsible AI
  • Manage the Data Subject Request fulfillment process and provide legal guidance during data incident response investigations
  • Provide strategic guidance to the Product Management teams, helping guide the roadmap and development of BigID’s privacy product offerings
