Requirements
- 7+ years of direct experience in privacy law, with a strong preference for in-house experience at a tech company
- Experience advising on AI governance, risk management, and the evolving AI regulatory landscape
- J.D. and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
- A highly collaborative spirit with the ability to operate autonomously and build strong cross-functional relationships
- A pragmatic, business-oriented approach to problem solving and risk management
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to distill complex legal concepts for non-lawyers
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP, AIGP) are highly desirable
Responsibilities
- Monitor global privacy and AI laws, translating complex requirements into practical guidance for business and product teams
- Participate in the AI Governance Committee to help shape and implement BigID’s framework for responsible and ethical AI use
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to embed Privacy by Design principles throughout the product development lifecycle
- Conduct DPIAs and AI risk assessments on products, systems, and vendors to proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks
- Maintain up-to-date RoPAs to proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks
- Support the commercial legal team by drafting and negotiating DPAs and complex privacy and AI terms in customer and vendor contracts
- Draft external and internal-facing privacy and AI documentation, and develop training materials to promote a strong company culture of privacy and responsible AI
- Manage the Data Subject Request fulfillment process and provide legal guidance during data incident response investigations
- Provide strategic guidance to the Product Management teams, helping guide the roadmap and development of BigID’s privacy product offerings
