Process Equipment Design Engineer
Oklo- Full Time
- Junior (1 to 2 years)
Candidates must possess a BS, preferably an MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in PEM electrolyzers, fuel cells, or related fields is required, along with a proven track record in taking complex components from concept to manufacturing and troubleshooting field failures. Expertise in FEA, CFD, and fluid flow visualization, as well as a deep understanding of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, sheet metal stamping, etching, and coatings, is essential.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead the design, development, testing, and validation of critical stack components such as fluid flow distribution plates, cell frames, seals, and bipolar plates. They will apply in-depth knowledge of materials and coatings used in PEM electrolyzer stack components, optimize fluid flow distribution and heat transfer within the stack, and analyze compression settings for robust sealing performance. The role involves performing stack-up tolerance analysis, collaborating with suppliers and internal teams on component design, ensuring manufacturability at scale, troubleshooting stack issues, developing testing methods, and designing tools for flow distribution visualization.
