Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Technical evaluation of new partnership opportunities via objective scientific assessment including analysis of patents, scientific literature, and probing discussions with internal Lilly scientists
  • Identification of key issues and appropriate expertise to facilitate resolution
  • Focus on delivering and progressing the best external cutting-edge science from biotech companies into the Lilly portfolio
  • Report to the Head of East Coast Ventures and serve as a key member of the geographic team defining strategy and tactics in the region
  • Work closely with global team peers in Indianapolis, Boston, San Francisco, San Diego, Europe, and APAC
  • Source opportunities from strategic venture fund partners and key institutions in prioritized geographies
  • Lead/co-lead fund interactions and collaborate with other fund and geography leads and management to find, monitor, and progress opportunities
  • Attend scientific meetings with venture funds, discuss key matters, record company/portfolio updates across several hundred companies, and act upon them
  • Identify and deliver direct financial investments in high-profile biotech companies
  • Interact regularly with existing portfolio companies to ensure optimal line of sight and convert relationships into portfolio-facing deals
  • Build strong relationships with Search and Evaluation colleagues in therapeutic/functional areas and other Corp BD colleagues in transactions
  • Lead or participate in downstream partnering projects (acquisition or licensing deals) to deliver Lilly pipeline value
  • Support expanded pillars of external innovation partnering models
