Senior Director of Finance

Spreetail is seeking a Senior Director of Finance to serve as a pivotal financial leader. This role involves direct partnership with our Merchandising and Marketing teams to drive revenue, profitability, and strategic growth. The ideal candidate is an analytical expert with strong leadership skills, capable of delivering crucial financial insights, optimizing spend, and guiding executive decision-making. Experience in e-commerce/retail finance and building high-performing teams is essential.

Responsibilities

Financial Partnership & Strategy for Merchandising

  • Act as the financial lead for merchandising.
  • Provide insights into pricing, product mix, and category performance.
  • Drive product margin optimization.

Financial Partnership & Strategy for Marketing

  • Partner with the marketing team to assess financial impact.
  • Perform ROI analysis on marketing initiatives.
  • Lead budget planning to ensure alignment with revenue and profitability goals.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

  • Oversee the creation of financial models, forecasts, and budgets for merchandising and marketing.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of sales trends, costs, and profit margins.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with technology, operations, supply chain, e-commerce, and data analytics teams to ensure alignment on inventory, logistics, and customer insights.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Build and manage a high-performing finance team.
  • Foster continuous learning and professional development.
  • Mentor direct reports.

Strategic Financial Guidance

  • Ensure clear communication of financial goals and KPIs.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between merchandising and marketing.

Process and System Enhancement

  • Lead initiatives to improve financial tools, processes, and systems.
  • Enhance reporting accuracy, speed, and decision-making capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in financial management, with a strong focus on supporting merchandising and marketing functions.
  • Proven track record of partnering with merchandising and marketing teams in an e-commerce or retail environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop financial models, conduct ROI analysis, and provide actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in financial planning and analysis tools, SQL proficiency, and advanced Excel modeling.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive business outcomes.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing finance teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities.

Note: Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $175,000/year to $250,000/year.
