Responsibilities

Greeting incoming outpatient services patients and visitors
Performing outpatient registration duties including entering pertinent patient information
Explaining various registration forms
Verifying insurance eligibility for services
Providing excellent care and service to patients, guests, and fellow employees at all times
Processing referrals made by providers by scheduling appointments with the patient present following their clinic appointment or by gathering information from the patient and following up in a timely manner
Scheduling orders for radiology tests, physical therapy, and specialty clinics
Answering incoming calls, screening as necessary, and transferring as requested
Greeting and directing employees, visitors, patients, business representatives, and the general public arriving at the facility
Providing general information regarding the facility and department functions and procedures
Communicating with team members throughout various areas within the facility using telephone, mobile communication, computer, and other office-related equipment
Operating overhead page system
Processing computer admissions and patient transfers within the facility
Interviewing patients or relatives regarding personal and insurance information
Instructing patients and relatives on related policies and procedures
Recording and typing patient and insurance information and obtaining appropriate signatures
Ensuring all necessary consents and HIPAA forms are signed and completed
Maintaining strict confidentiality of patient information
Preparing appropriate paperwork for next day’s patient schedules, including pre-registration and insurance eligibility
