Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management or similar - required
  • 4 years of experience in strategic sourcing and supplier development - required
  • Ability to negotiate effectively to obtain best prices and terms on products, materials, and services
  • Knowledge and application of supplier contract strategy, negotiations, contractual terms and contract administration
  • Manufacturing management, manufacturing engineering, buying, production planning or new product development experience - preferred
  • Medical Device, Pharmaceutical or other highly regulated industry experience (e.g.: aerospace, automotive) - highly preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of new product development process
  • Willingness to travel 20%

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic sourcing activities in assigned suppliers and/or commodities to obtain the best quality, service, and value through effective bidding, negotiation, and supplier management
  • Coordinate sourcing needs for new product development projects, including completion of supplier selection with agreement to Global Sourcing Strategy
  • Regularly report material costs, manage schedules, and define final material logistics
  • Act as liaison for all sourcing activities to Design and Advanced Operations teams
  • Ensure project teams adhere to strategic direction of Global Sourcing and purchasing controls requirements related to design projects
  • Negotiate supplier cost reductions and NRE reductions in conjunction with commodities teams when cost increases are experienced
  • Drive key efficiencies with suppliers and communication tools to support faster and more product launches
  • Identify process improvements to either supplier or Stryker processes to drive better speed to market, quality and long-term delivery
  • Build engaging relationships with a variety of R&D engineering teams
  • Lead sourcing analysis and selection process and perform cost analyses and make versus buy analyses as required
  • Identify supply base risk and develop/implement mitigation plans for new products
  • Drive request for quotes, order samples, prototypes, V&V, and production parts
  • Manage bill of material for New Products
  • Support ERP set up, logistics, and tracking to target costs
