Position Overview

Energy Solutions is seeking a Solar Programs Associate - Consumer Protection to join their Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) Department. This role supports the Illinois Shines program, which aims to protect consumer rights and facilitate the adoption of solar power across Illinois. The position is crucial for advancing the state's renewable energy goals and ensuring a fair clean energy transition.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree OR a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in lieu of a degree
  • Competency with technical topics
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to function as a team player and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Extensive experience using Microsoft Office (Office365, SharePoint, OneNote)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Program requirements and procedures.
  • Evaluate participating customer complaints as part of a high-performing team.
  • Communicate with consumers via telephone and email to address complaints and facilitate resolutions with solar companies.
  • Escalate issues to Program leadership as appropriate.
  • Investigate allegations of Program violations, recommend disciplinary actions, and draft disciplinary letters to vendors.
  • Utilize Program Guidebook, Consumer Protection Handbook, knowledge-base data, and other resources to answer client questions and resolve issues.
  • Assist with the stranded customer assistance process.
  • Update public-facing Consumer Complaint and Program Violations reports.
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for complaint resolution and disciplinary actions, including direct communication with solar vendors and customers.
  • Participate in video conference calls.
  • Manage or contribute to ad hoc projects for the Consumer Protection team and the Illinois Shines project.
