The Software Engineering Manager should have at least 4 years of experience leading and managing development teams, demonstrating experience as a cross-team facilitator collaborating with other teams and ensuring smooth operations. They should possess adeptness in leading cross-functional teams within a matrixed/dotted-line structure, and a strong understanding of project management, including decomposing complex projects into manageable tasks and effectively managing risks. Prior software development experience is essential, with knowledge of C/C++/Go being a significant advantage, as well as experience deploying and running MongoDB and related components. Familiarity with open source software and development processes is also required.
As the Software Engineering Manager, you will hire and lead a globally distributed team of 8-10 software developers, partnering with Product Management to create a roadmap and drive execution. You will define success through on-time delivery, code quality, team satisfaction, and customer impact, developing people through coaching, mentoring, and management support. You will promote the strategic use of AI tools to boost engineering velocity, improve code quality, and streamline workflows, and work with engineering teams, product managers, and others across team boundaries to maintain transparency and efficiency. You will own the team’s outcomes, amplify what’s working, and proactively address areas for improvement, and facilitate communication and collaboration within the team and across Percona’s organization.
