Software Engineer - Storefront Team

Position Overview

BigCommerce is searching for a Software Engineer to join the Storefront Team. We are a small, distributed team that engages with the entire Engineering organization by maintaining BigCommerce’s Storefront Environment. This environment allows shoppers to browse products and make purchases for all of our merchants' stores. BigCommerce's mission is to help merchants sell more at every stage of growth, from small startups to mid-market businesses and large enterprises. We focus on being the best e-commerce platform so our customers can focus on what matters most: growing their businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve services that power the BigCommerce’s Storefront Environment.
  • Support bug fixes and implement enhancements to applications in Production.
  • Produce technical documentation of workflows related to the Storefront.
  • Work and collaborate with a team distributed between US and EU timezones.
  • Be comfortable exploring and engaging in unfamiliar languages, tools, and technologies.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer.
  • Experience developing in Scala.
  • Experience with PHP, Javascript, and/or gRPC is a bonus.
  • Experience with evolving/scaling high throughput applications.
  • Desire to work in a collaborative, open environment on an Agile team as a contributor and mentor.
  • Fluent in English.

Education

  • BS degree required or higher degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
