Senior Java Engineer

Position Overview

Zoom is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Java Engineer to join our Meeting Web platform team. This role will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining our core Meeting Web platform using Java and Spring Boot. You’ll work closely with product management and cross-functional teams to translate roadmap vision into actionable deliverables, mentor junior team members, and establish engineering best practices. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, with the potential to work in various locations throughout the U.S. No domestic or international travel is required.

Requirements

  • Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5 years of experience in a job offered or related occupation.
  • Product Development: 5 years of experience in product development, specifically building, deploying, and supporting an enterprise-scale web application in the cloud.
  • Java Expertise: 5 years of experience in Java programming.
  • Cloud Technologies: In-depth understanding of modern cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or GCP (e.g., EC2, ECS, ElasticCache, S3).
  • Database Knowledge: 5 years of experience with modern databases (SQL and NoSQL) and storage technologies (e.g., MySQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB, Elastic Search).
  • Leadership: 5 years of experience in leading and managing large project development efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with product management and cross-functional teams to define Meeting/Webinar product requirements and translate high-level roadmap vision into feasible feature specifications and deliverables.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Establish and maintain engineering best practices, processes, and standards to ensure high-quality product development.
  • Design and develop Zoom’s core Meeting Web platform with Java using the Spring Boot framework.
  • Create a secure and scalable platform utilizing the latest cloud infrastructure technologies (i.e., Microservices Architecture, RESTful APIs, AWS, NoSQL).
  • Build customer-facing websites with responsive and adaptive web design principles to facilitate an enriched user experience.
  • Drive cloud-based test automation solutions and deployment strategy to optimize service performance and ensure product stability using AWS infrastructure.
  • Build complex metrics solutions with data visualization support for actionable business insights.
  • Triage critical customer issues and support customer engagement.
