As a customer-facing Cloud Solutions Architect (Infrastructure) on our field team, you will deliver world-class technical solutions to customer and prospect business problems. You will engage with diverse use cases where Apache Airflow is central to the solution architecture, directly enabling customers to scale their operations and achieve their goals by adopting Astronomer’s products.

This is a pre-sales oriented role involving up to 20% travel to support business and customer engagements. You will primarily support customers in the PST and ANZ time zones, requiring comfort and flexibility in working within these time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Implement Astronomer’s software and services in the core of some of the world’s largest businesses and organizations.
  • Guide our largest and most complex customers in their Apache Airflow journeys.
  • Act as the core interface between the Customer, Sales, and Product to ensure the broader solution around the platform addresses pain points and delivers value to customers.

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience in a data infrastructure role or equivalent.
  • 5 years in a customer-facing role.
  • Strong Kubernetes experience (GKE/EKS/AKS or OpenShift preferred).
  • Proficiency in Python/Go.
  • Good understanding of network complexities and architectures.
  • Versatile Terminal and CLI user, comfortable with hands-on work, often without GUI access.
  • Experience setting up and troubleshooting distributed systems.
  • Experience with complex SaaS infrastructure operating at scale.
  • Experience with at least one major cloud provider API/tooling.
  • Cloud-native data architecture experience.
  • Strong customer-facing skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills – ability to explain complex technical issues succinctly to non-technical audiences.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Prior experience using or administering Apache Airflow, Autosys, UC4, Temporal, Dagster, or Prefect.
  • Enterprise data experience with or in regulated environments.
  • Experience with scripting/automation, specifically infrastructure (Pulumi, Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
  • Experience with ElasticSearch/Prometheus/Vault.
