Requirements

Minimum 3-4 years (up to 6 years) of hands-on experience in Sybase ASE & SRS Database Administration, including day-to-day support, performance troubleshooting, and operational excellence
Proficiency in Sybase Database (must-have)
Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization (must-have)
Experience with UNIX/Linux environments and shell scripting (must-have)
Knowledge of monitoring tools, alerting systems, and incident management platforms

Availability for 24×7 support, including rotating shifts and on-call duties

Responsibilities

Provide 24×7 support for Sybase ASE and Sybase Replication Server (SRS) environments, including participation in rotating shifts and on-call duties
Administer and maintain Sybase ASE and SRS databases across development, QA, and production environments
Perform daily health checks, monitoring, and incident resolution to ensure database stability
Execute key maintenance activities such as reorgs, update statistics, DBCC commands, index management, and resource allocation
Proactively identify and resolve performance issues through query analysis and optimization, server parameter tuning, index and statistics management
Monitor memory, CPU utilization, disk utilization, locks, deadlocks, and runtime of queries
Implement and manage robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity
Collaborate with application development, SAP Basis, and infrastructure teams to support projects and resolve issues
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents across multiple environments
Perform Sybase ASE upgrades and patching as needed
Manage user access, roles, and permissions to maintain database security and compliance
Maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations, procedures, and operational standards
Create databases as needed, including creation of devices, databases, and segments
