Requirements

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, along with a minimum of 7 years of experience in policy development, trust and safety, or a related area. Strong understanding of online safety principles, community building, and risk management is essential, as is the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions. Experience with legal and regulatory frameworks related to online safety and content moderation is highly desirable, and familiarity with collaborative governance models is beneficial.

Responsibilities

The Senior Trust & Safety Policy Manager will review, enhance, and develop Foundation-internal trust and safety policies to align with Wikimedia’s values and community needs, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. They will support the development and implementation of the Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) across various communities, strengthening collaboration with the U4C and partner communities. The role involves conducting safety risk assessments for new products and features, contributing to team discussions and confidential case reviews, and providing safety risk assessments on new Wikimedia products, projects, tools, and features before they are launched. Additionally, they will investigate and respond to threats to the safety of Wikimedia projects and communities, escalating emergency contacts to law enforcement when necessary, and supporting the creation of public resources and training materials to promote consistent enforcement and build capacity within the Wikimedia ecosystem.
