Requirements

  • Degree or professional qualification in industrial/system engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in automation
  • Literate in mechanical systems controls such as PLCs and iPC based machine controls
  • Ability to manage complex mechanical system implementations, including work with other teams involved such as IT, Maintenance and Operations
  • Ability to manage multiple handshake points between sort technology vendors and various FedEx entities involved in projects
  • Knowledge of transportation and logistics industry (advantage)
  • Experience in Engineering (advantage)
  • Ability to communicate and present at all levels within an international organization, both written and verbal in native and English language
  • Ability to independently set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals and track progress
  • Understanding of industrial infrastructure concepts
  • Knowledge of PLC and system network
  • Analytical thinker with a creative and pragmatic approach to problem solving
  • Flexible, no nine-to-five mentality including ability and willingness to travel for up to 50% of the time
  • English (Required), French (Europe) (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Commissioning of the new and upgrades to the existing sort systems to meet business growth and changing business requirements
  • Support creation of the functional specifications and provide technical inputs for contracting the technology
  • Mastering all sort technologies made available for operational use
  • Manage communications across stakeholders in FedEx during implementations in the field
  • Challenge the status quo
  • Design and support the implementation of operating models for operations technology
  • Rigor in execution of the commissioning protocols
  • Ensure that system problems are identified, explored and resolved
  • Be accurate in creating and maintaining system documentation
  • Bringing new techniques and technologies into the team
