Requirements

Candidates should possess a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field, with a minimum of four years of industry experience. They must have experience with backend technologies and languages such as Python, C++, or Rust, and a proven track record of developing and maintaining production-quality software. Candidates should also demonstrate understanding of test-driven and API-driven development methodologies, experience designing interfaces between systems, and expertise in multi-threaded system design, algorithms, data structures, and systems-level programming. Furthermore, experience working with cross-functional partners and stakeholders, along with knowledge of software performance optimization, concurrency, and determinism, is required.

Responsibilities

The Senior/Staff Software Engineer will contribute to and improve the state-of-the-art self-driving simulator, Waabi World, to accelerate autonomous vehicle (AV) development. They will enhance the scalability and performance of the simulation platform to efficiently run large-scale simulations, design and implement orchestration software between simulation subcomponents including the autonomy system, data-driven actor models, and sensor simulation powered by generative AI. The role involves participating in technical and architecture discussions, collaborating with researchers and engineers, working closely with internal users to understand their requirements and workflows, and proposing new features to streamline their experience. Furthermore, they will advocate for and establish software development patterns, and drive complex, cross-functional technical projects with company-wide impact.

Waabi

Develops self-driving technology for trucking

About Waabi

Waabi focuses on developing self-driving technology specifically for the trucking industry. Their main product, the Waabi Driver, is designed to learn from experiences, adapt to new situations, and work with various hardware setups. This technology aims for large-scale use and is intended for integration into vehicles by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). A key feature that sets Waabi apart from competitors is its use of Waabi World, an advanced simulation environment that allows for efficient development of their self-driving systems. This reduces the need for extensive real-world testing, which can be costly and time-consuming, while also improving safety and adaptability. Waabi's goal is to transform the trucking industry by providing technology that lowers operational costs and enhances safety for commercial vehicles. They aim to license their technology to trucking companies and OEMs, making it easier for these businesses to adopt self-driving solutions.
