Requirements

Candidates should have 3-7 years of professional backend software development experience, with a preference for Python or Java. Experience with Docker for local development, distributed systems or microservices, and PostgreSQL or other relational databases is required. Familiarity with API design (Protocol Buffers, Swagger, OpenAPI) and cloud computing & Kubernetes is also preferred.

Responsibilities

The Senior Backend Engineer will develop web services using Python and PostgreSQL, collaborate with product managers, underwriters, and partners to build and support digital life insurance enrollment experiences, and contribute to new platform capabilities that scale with the business. Responsibilities include writing maintainable software with automated tests, ensuring features are observable and monitored, and sharing responsibility for operating workloads on Kubernetes in Google Cloud Platform.
