Requirements

Candidates must have proven experience in designing and developing complex financial systems, preferably including double-entry accounting, and a strong understanding of accounting principles and ledgers. The ideal candidate is an experienced full-stack engineer with a proven track record of designing and building scalable applications, comfortable challenging conventions, and advocating for innovative solutions. Experience with gRPC microservices and React-based UI development is also required. Familiarity with global regulatory requirements and experience in a global environment are necessary.

Responsibilities

The Senior Software Engineer will design, implement, and maintain systems and services for Alpaca's foundation, empower users, and lead regional recruitment initiatives. They will manage cross-functional team projects, mentor talent on engineering principles, and foster Alpaca culture in the region. Responsibilities include ensuring operational reliability engineering and acting as incident commander during regional business hours for 24x7 stability. This role involves designing highly scalable, mission-critical brokerage systems, developing and enhancing middle and back office systems, and integrating with third-party vendors. The engineer will collaborate with core teams to enhance the core framework for multi-language, multi-currency, and multi-market support, and work with tech leads in other regions, potentially outside regular working hours. They will also troubleshoot incidents and bugs, and may be on-call for engineering projects.
