This role focuses on building new ways for users to connect, engage, and have a great time while gaming, in collaboration with developer partners and communities.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain features that help users connect and make friends through gaming on the platform, across desktop and mobile.
- Engage with partners and external developers to identify opportunities, evaluate challenges, and provide solutions for growing online communities and enriched gaming experiences.
- Collaborate with Engineers, Designers, Product, and Data Science to build engaging, fun, and trusted experiences, experimenting and iterating on ideas to enhance user interactions.
- Partner with Content, Marketing, and ML teams to improve ranking and discovery systems, enabling users to find meaningful connections and relevant content.
- Build innovative features that help users discover new friendships and deepen existing ones, creating a trusted and welcoming environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
- Experience in Unity, Unreal, or other game development software, including backend infrastructure for scaling to an indie-size userbase.
- Experience with React, Python, or other modern programming languages.
- Comfortable switching between different technical stacks and learning new ones.
- A sense for product and design – ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional peers and express opinions.
- Holistic approach to problem-solving, including first principles thinking, learning from mistakes, and working through obstacles with the team.
- Active Discord user and a desire to improve the product.
Bonus Points
- Experience working on social products.
- Experience integrating or deploying on Steam (or similar platforms).
- Experience using Epic Games Online Services.
