Requirements

  • Experience building PB scale data management systems (datalake, data warehouse) from the ground up
  • Experience building and optimizing data pipelines and associated infrastructure for cost efficiency, scale and performance
  • 10+ years working with big data, python, ETL/ELT, data modeling, SQL, data warehousing, data lake, data lakehouse
  • Strong proficiency in writing SQL for analytic purposes
  • BS, MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another relevant field; or equivalent real-world experience
  • Passionate about self-driving technology and its potential impact on the world
  • Attention to detail and a passion for seeking truth
  • A track record of efficiently solving complex problems
  • Startup mentality - openness to dealing with unknown and wearing many hats

Responsibilities

  • Architect & automate end-to-end data processing and data management lifecycle on Cloud Platforms (GCP/Azure)
  • Collaborate with cross functional partners (Product Managers, Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Operations etc.) to capture requirements and build a robust data platform
  • Perform data analysis, build data pipelines and build canonical datasets and domain data models to empower users to make data driven business decisions
  • Own technical projects from start to finish, contribute to the team’s product roadmap, and be responsible for major technical decisions and tradeoffs
  • Effectively participate in team planning, code reviews and design discussions
  • Build data pipelines that perform aggregations, enrichments, and feature engineering on raw data
  • Own the data pipelines that calculate the company’s topline KPIs, collaborating closely with AV PMs and Operations teams
  • Ensure data governance and stewardship, including data quality monitoring and building a data catalog for AV Datasets
  • Assist data science teams with delivering their projects by building feature sets and optimizing production code
  • Use the latest cloud technologies to own, design, implement, and test scalable distributed data systems in the cloud
  • Champion engineering excellence by continuously improving systems and processes
  • Consider the effects of projects across multiple teams and proactively manage conflicts
  • Work together with partner teams and orgs to achieve cross-organizational goals and satisfy broad requirements
  • Conduct technical interviews with well-calibrated standards and play an essential role in recruiting activities
  • Effectively onboard and mentor junior engineers and/or interns
  • Report to offices in Austin, TX, Mountain View, CA or the Greater Seattle Area three times per week, at minimum (or other frequency dictated by the business if more than 3 days)
