Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in backend engineering
  • Experience building and maintaining integration frameworks, middleware, or service layers
  • Experience building software using databases (e.g. Postgres, DynamoDB, etc.)
  • Experience developing event-driven architectures, messaging systems, or workflow engines
  • Hands-on experience building and operating services
  • Experience working cross-functionally with infra, product, and business teams
  • Experience with at least one major programming language (Go, Python, Java, or similar)
  • Experience with multiple coding languages
  • Experience with microservice architectures and online services
  • Experience with GraphQL, APIs, and other real-time data pulls
  • Experience with event-based integrations framework for Salesforce and other 3rd-Party tools
  • Experience with commercial operations and trust & safety teams
  • Experience with backend infrastructure for campaigning, alerting, and automation
  • Experience with AI/ML teams and automation and LLM-driven workflows

Responsibilities

  • Unlock and expand write-based and read-based integrations with product systems
  • Build out a microservices architecture to allow Business Application tools to be integrated with product services
  • Partner with Commercial Operations and Trust & Safety to deliver backend infrastructure for campaigning, alerting, and automation
  • Collaborate with relevant AI/ML teams to unlock automation and LLM-driven workflows
  • Contribute to backend best practices — service architecture, event-driven systems, monitoring, and resiliency
  • Develop and maintain backend infrastructure for internal tools
  • Work with the business and own the platform of internal tools throughout their lifecycle
  • Deliver scalable systems and infrastructure to empower Thumbtack employees
  • Participate in the development of sustainable architecture that enables real-time event-driven systems
  • Develop and maintain APIs and integrations with third-party enterprise tools
  • Work with the sales, customer support, and business functions to deliver effective sales campaigns
  • Develop and maintain support systems and experiences
  • Contribute to the development of Conversational AI and other automation and LLM-driven workflows
  • Work with the AI/ML teams to develop and implement new workflows and features
  • Participate in the development of the overall architecture and roadmap for the Business Applications team
