Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Autonomy: Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively seek assistance when necessary.
  • Backend Expertise: A strong inclination and capability to manage and execute large projects with a primary focus on backend development.
  • Teamwork: Proven ability to collaborate effectively with experienced engineers, including application and front-end developers.
  • Pragmatic Judgment: Sound judgment in evaluating tradeoffs and selecting appropriate tools for problem-solving, avoiding an overemphasis on trendy technologies.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with stable and supported technologies such as AWS, Postgres, and Node.js.
  • Customer Focus: A commitment to using customer problems as the foundation for system design and the creation of simple, effective solutions.
  • System Awareness: Understanding of critical system considerations including observability, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and scalability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop APIs to empower other engineers in solving customer-related problems within the product.
  • Ensure the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of Common Room’s core internal capabilities, infrastructure, and systems.
  • Identify opportunities and actively participate in significant company-building initiatives.
  • Commit to continuous learning regarding the product, business, and technology.
  • Independently take ownership of and deliver on features from conception to completion.
