Requirements

Candidates should possess over 6 years of software development experience, with a focus on data-intensive solutions. Proven experience with the internals of Apache Spark, Apache Flink, Kafka Connect, or Apache Beam is required, along with experience developing or extending connectors for big data processing frameworks. A strong understanding of database fundamentals, including SQL, data modeling, query optimization, and OLAP databases, is necessary. Proficiency in Java and the JVM ecosystem, including memory management, garbage collection tuning, and performance profiling, is essential. Solid experience with concurrent programming in Java, including threads, executors, and reactive or asynchronous patterns, is also required. Understanding of JDBC, network protocols, and techniques for optimizing data throughput is needed. Prior contributions to open-source projects, familiarity with ClickHouse or similar high-performance data platforms, and working knowledge of Python for data engineering are considered bonus points.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a core contributor responsible for owning and maintaining critical parts of ClickHouse's Data engineering ecosystem. You will craft tools that enable Data Engineers to harness ClickHouse's speed and scale, owning the full lifecycle of data framework integrations from core database drivers to SDKs and connectors. Your work will directly impact how companies process massive datasets and you will collaborate closely with the open-source community, internal teams, and enterprise users to ensure JVM integrations set the standard for performance, reliability, and developer experience.
