Requirements
Candidates should have a proven track record of scoping and building medium to large features for distributed systems in production. They must be proficient in code reviews and troubleshooting design or performance issues, with a solid understanding of common design patterns, relational databases (SQL), and experience working with backend and frontend development frameworks. Comfort with on-call duties and system maintenance is expected, along with effective communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience with React or React Native, Ruby on Rails, Java, Kotlin, and/or Python is required, as is working knowledge of GraphQL and Kafka. Familiarity with frameworks like Kubernetes and tools such as Temporal and DataDog is preferred, along with experience in mobile development, banking or financial technology companies, and financial technology or B2C applications. Experience mentoring junior team members is also desired.
Responsibilities
The Senior Software Developer will collaborate with cross-functional teams of software developers, data scientists, product managers, and designers to create delightful web and mobile experiences for Wealthsimple clients. They will ship impactful projects, solve interesting problems using cutting-edge technology, and work across the entire tech stack to iteratively build, test, deploy, and monitor high-quality software. Additionally, they will help improve team documentation, champion operational excellence, and make meaningful improvements to the codebase.
